Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables! Many people would like to start eating a healthier diet. Lots of warnings have gone out to people about the possible consequences if one just eats processed foods all the time. It doesn’t matter how old or young one is, but this way of eating can take a toll on every aspect of your body and mind. However, this can be avoided if one eats a balanced diet, which includes clean sources of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. The cleanest sources of carbohydrates that are available to us are fruit and vegetable. Most often than not, we don’t usually start eating better until there is some sort of crisis. Many of us have avoided eating a particular way because of our previously acquired bad habits, and constant procrastination. The one’s who have tried to eat healthy, usually only succeed for a day or two only to return to their normal eating patterns. The subconscious mind is very powerful, and if one does not think positive thoughts and see themselves reaching their goals, then they will fall back into the same poor eating patterns. The trick is to start slow, and take it one day at a time. For example, instead of going out to a fast food restaurant, pack your own lunch, which may include sandwiches, along with a fruit and vegetable. In time you will adjust to these eating patterns and will be more conscious of your food choices. There is no need to rush as this will only discourage you and you will end up wasting more precious time. The sooner one starts, the greater quality of life they can attain. One cannot deny that it’s difficult to give up everything that the professionals may claim is not healthy. If you are craving something, which is not a very healthy choice, then prepare a fruit and vegetable plate, and this should satisfy your hunger for a while. However, if you just absolutely must have that chocolate that you desire then replace that with a more healthy dark chocolate to your diet as a snack. The most important thing is not to deny the food you most enjoy, but replace them where necessary, and do this slowly. Overtime it will be a piece of “cake” to make health decisions and you won’t think twice about grabbing that chocolate cake. Also, when one is at a restaurant, if possible, choose low fat entrées such as grilled fish and fruit and vegetable. There are many things to choose from, but if you choose wisely, then you won’t be upset with yourself and feel guilty right after you had it. When children are young, parents can make huge differences in their lives by guiding them towards healthy eating patterns. Children mimic their parents and they learn by example so its important that if you’re a parent then you should set an example by eating healthy and also keeping the kitchen stocked with healthy food choices such as fruit and vegetables, whole grain breads, whole grain cereals, and 100% pure natural juice instead of refined and processed foods such as cookies, cakes and chips. Children pick up most of their lifelong habits by the age of five, so it’s important to help the build the discernment for healthy food choices. |
